His mommy raised an eyebrow. "A book? Under my bed? With my diary in your hands?"
Mortified, Xev tried to come up with an excuse, but his mind went blank. He knew he had crossed a boundary.
To his surprise, his mommy approached him, a mix of disappointment and understanding on her face. "Xev, I know you're curious, and it's natural to have questions. But some things are private, and you need to respect that."
The room fell silent as his mommy processed the situation. Xev awaited his punishment, expecting the worst.
"I...I was just looking for...uh...a book," Xev stammered.
She took a deep breath before continuing, "Let's discuss this further, but for now, let's just say you'll be helping me with some tasks around the house to make up for your curiosity."
Xev shook his head, realizing the futility of his excuse. "I'm sorry, Mommy. I didn't mean to pry."
