Toward practices, not products. The debates around v4 encouraged a shift in thinking. No single panel could be both universally authoritative and contextually fair. These divergent outcomes made clear an essential point: panels are social artifacts as much as technical systems. They shape behavior, allocate resources, frame narratives, and shift power. A well-intentioned algorithm can become an instrument of exclusion or a tool of defense depending on who controls it and how its outputs are interpreted.
